Post mortem reveals Holly Hamilton was stabbed to death

After a post mortem exam, Hamilton police have reported that Holly Hamilton was stabbed to death. The 29-year old mother was reported missing Monday and police eventually called in the homicide unit to investigate. Witnesses say she was last seen at her ex-boyfriend Justin Dumpfrey’s apartment at the corner of Barton street and Fairfield.
Hamilton’s body was later found in the trunk of her car on Wednesday at a parking lot about four kilometres away from Dumpfrey’s basement apartment. The two had a daughter, 4-year old Tamia, who is safe with her grandparents.
Sergeant Dave Olenuik told reporters Thursday that police had knowledge of Dumpfrey’s history of violence against Hamilton. He was convicted of assaulting her in May 2016. His probation, which expired in December, ordered him to leave her alone.
Dumpfrey has a long history with police. In fact, when Hamilton’s body was found on Wednesday, Dumpfrey was already making a court appearance for breaching his probation and drug possession and his run-ins with the law aren’t solely in Hamilton. Niagara Regional police charged him with obstructing a police officer and driving while prohibited in October 2015. In March of 2010, he was charged with several offences in Scarborough including auto theft and cruelty to animals after he kicked a pregnant dog and made off with a relative’s car.
