Possible twisters in Shelburne
Updated Environment Canada says it was a tornado that howled through the Shelburne area last night.
The storm hit the area about suppertime, knocking down trees and tearing apart barns. Environment canada says the twister was at the bottom of the tornado scale, with winds between 135 and 175 kilometres an hour. But it was still enough to create lots of damage and shake up people in the region.
“The winds were really wicked and the rain came down just about as hard as I’ve seen it come down here in a long time. We live in a small apartment and it was rocking pretty darned good. A lot of things blowing around, moving around, the vehicles were even shifting a bit rocking side to side.”
Police say there were no serious injuries, adding even the local livestock were unscathed. There’s no word on a damage estimate.
