Possible hike in Hamilton cab fees

A proposal could hike cab prices in Hamilton.

The city’s planning committee is recommending a higher pick-up rate to help drivers deal with sky rocketing insurance rates.

The proposal suggests increasing the base rate 70 cents, from $3.209 to $3.90.

The vote will happen next Wednesday. This year Ontario saw a 400% increase in cab insurance premiums, which many drivers say make it difficult to earn a living.
