Portion of King Street East remains closed following partial collapse of building

A portion of King Street East in central Hamilton has been closed and isn’t expected to reopen until Tuesday morning after a portion of a building collapsed on Saturday.
The city’s building division is completing an assessment of two buildings between Emerald Street and East Avenue.
It appears that part of the building has crumbled and the façade of the building is partially collapsed.
No one was injured when it happened.
Residents of the building are scrambling to find somewhere to live as city officials determine how unsafe the structure is. Tenants are hoping the landlord will pay for hotel rooms in the meantime.
