Serious crash on Highway 406 in St. Catharines sends 2 to hospital

A portion of Highway 406 in St. Catharines closed Thursday morning following a two-vehicle crash that left one man injured, and a woman in serious condition.
Police say the collision happened at around 9:10 a.m. on Highway 406, south of Westchester.
Officers say a 59-year-old woman was the sole driver of one vehicle who was transported to hospital and is in serious condition.
The sole driver of the other vehicle is a man who was transported to hospital for injuries that were not as serious.
In a post on X around 9:30 a.m., Ontario Provincial Police say they closed the southbound lanes of Highway 406 at Westchester Crescent and both on ramps.
Niagara police closed Highway 406 southbound from Westchester to Glendale Avenue, while northbound the left lane was closed north of Glendale Avenue.
Officers reopened the highway after 5 p.m.
