The Canadian Coast Guard’s seasonal search and rescue stations across the Great Lakes are preparing to open for the 2025 boating season.

Here are the expected opening dates:

March 21: Amherstburg, Kingston, Port Dover, Port Weller
March 28: Cobourg
April 4: Goderich, Meaford, Tobermory
April 11: Thunder Bay

While the weather starts to warm in the coming weeks, the Coast Guard is reminding boaters that waterways are still very cold and take much longer to warm up than the air.

Boaters should ensure they take the necessary precautions when near or on waterways.
