Pope offers condolences to Quebec victims

Pope Francis is offering his condolences to the victims of the seniors’ home fire in Quebec.
The official death toll in last week’s fire has now reached 21. Eleven are still missing. The Vatican Secretary of State says the Pope is uniting himself in prayer in the grief of the bereaved families and offering a special blessing to everyone affected by the tragedy. The Pope also pointed out the firefighters and rescue workers who he says have performed a great work of solidarity especially given the bitter weather. A commemorative ceremony will take place this Saturday and Prime Minister Stephen Harper will attend.
