Pope Francis says what happened to Indigenous children in the residential school system amounts to genocide

There’s a major surprise from Pope Francis on Canada’s former residential schools.

The Pope is now condemning the residential schools as genocide. A deliberate attempt to wipe out Indigenous People. It’s his strongest statement so far on the schools.

But the Pope waited until after his week-long Apology Tour of Canada was over before making the statement.
