Poor refrigeration responsible for CNE illnesses

Toronto Public Health officials say poor refrigeration of maple bacon jam is what made 223 people sick at the CNE.

Health officials say they still don’t know how the toxin got into the jam, but improper refrigeration allowed it to spread. The jam was on top of the Cronut burger, which was created and sold by Epic Burgers and Waffles. The stand was shut down for a week during the investigation. The vendor was allowed to reopen and took the burger off its menu.

The other two food booths in question, Bourbon Street Grill and Bao 360 Shanghai Express did not reopen.
