Hamilton police are issuing a warning to residents after a woman was scammed Monday night on Paisley Avenue South between Main St W and King St W.

The woman said a man told her he locked his keys in his car and needed help.

The woman told police she gave him 50-dollars and he promised to pay her back.

She later discovered that the information he provided her was false.

The man is described as about 40-years-old, six-foot-one with a heavier build and a pock-marked face.

He has dark, buzz-cut hair and was wearing a blue plaid shirt and jeans at the time of the attack.

Police are asking the public to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 if you have any information.
