Police warn of uptick in trailer, snowmobile thefts in rural Niagara

Police are alerting the public of an increase in trailer and snowmobile theft in the rural Niagara region.
Recent incidents of stolen units have been reported in the municipalities of Grimsby, West Lincoln, and Lincoln and have taken place primarily between midnight and 6 a.m.
Niagara police say suspects involved appear to be checking if unattended trailers with unlocked trailer hitches parked in driveways have been left accessible.
If a trailer hitch is found unlocked, the thieves are hooking up the trailer and driving away.
Police are asking trailer owners to remain vigilant and to use hitch locks and, if possible, to park the unit in a well-lit area or install a security camera.
Victims of vehicle theft are urged to file a police report, and anyone with information about trailer, snowmobile or ATV theft is asked to contact Niagara police at 905-688-4111.
