Police warn of stolen narcotics in Norfolk

The Norfolk County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a robbery at a Shoppers Drug Mart in Simcoe.
Saturday night, just past 10:30pm, a man entered the Shoppers Drug Mart on Norfolk Street North, approached the employee of the pharmacy and displayed a weapon.
He then demanded narcotics at which time he removed a large quantity of fentanyl and hydromorphone and left from the store in an unknown direction.
The employee was not physically injured during this incident.
The suspect is described as white, approximately 5′ 11″ tall, wearing a black coloured hat with a yellow pattern, surgical mask covering his face, a camouflage jacket, blue jeans and was last seen carrying a red and orange coloured backpack.
Fentanyl is said to be 50 to 100 times more powerful than morphine and about 40 times more potent than heroin. This year saw a spike in fentanyl overdoses in Western Canada, and police in Toronto have been warning the public about the “devastating impact” associated with abuse of the drug.
The Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit is investigating and is seeking assistance from the public. If anyone has any information regarding this incident or can identify the person, they are being asked to contact the detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
Police are warning members of the public to only use medication prescribed to them and that medications that are not prescribed accordingly, can be harmful and even deadly.
