Police are warning the public of an increase in overnight theft and damage to cars and properties in rural Niagara areas.
A number of incidents have been reported in the municipalities of Grimsby, West Lincoln, Lincoln, Pelham, Wainfleet and Niagara-on-the-Lake since Feb 13.
The thefts have primarily been between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m.
Police report that the suspects involved appear to be targeting neighbourhoods and cars with unlocked doors. In some cases, vehicles have been stolen.
Niagara police are asking the public to make sure to lock cars and remove any valuables from inside. They are also asking the public to report any suspicious activity and to file a police report if you have been a victim of theft.
They say reporting all crimes will help investigators gather information and work towards identifying suspects involved.
Anyone with information about such incidents or related thefts is asked to contact detectives at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009470.
