Police takedown on Delawana Drive in Hamilton

Reports of a shooting in Stoney Creek Wednesday afternoon ended in a police takedown. While Hamilton Police say four people have been arrested, it’s still unclear what lead to police drawing their firearms on Delawana Drive.

There are still a lot of questions to be answered about what exactly happened. Two police scenes on Delawana Drive just east of Centenial were blocked off to the public. Witnesses tell CHCH News they saw officers guns drawn and arrest two men.

Lake Avenue Public School was put in a hold and secure.

Some residents tell CHCH News they heard the popping of gunfire. In a news release, police say they got a call for a street disturbance possibly involving a firearm around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon.

They arrested a total of four men but haven’t said what that disturbance was or if any shots were fired leaving neighbours to speculate.

Hamilton Police are asking for any witnesses to give them a call, or to call Crimestoppers.
