Police seize more than 4,000 illegal cannabis plants in Wainfleet

Police have seized over 4,000 illegal cannabis plants from an address off Highway 3 in Wainfleet.

Following a referral from Health Canada cannabis inspectors, Niagara police investigators found that a large quantity of cannabis was being grown illegally.

In addition to the 4,098 plants that were seized, officers located an additional 33.2 lbs of dried, processed cannabis – worth over $2 million combined.

Ruyin Chen, 58, and Sirikat Khumhueang, 35, of Mississauga have been charged with two offences contrary to the Cannabis Act.

Officers say the investigation is ongoing.
