Police are searching for two people after a pickup truck drove through a playground and a violent carjacking took place in Milton yesterday morning.

The force says officers saw a stolen white truck weaving through traffic around 9:30 a.m. in the area of Derry Rd. and Holly Ave. Officers were unable to stop the vehicle after it approached a police cruiser and sped away.

The same vehicle was then seen several times driving erratically throughout Milton and was involved in two hit-and-run collisions. The driver also left Petro Canada at 5 Main St. East around 9:35 a.m. without paying for the gas.

Police say the pickup truck also drove through a fence at Pineview Public School and into a playground where children were. No one was injured during those incidents.

Five minutes later, officers received a report of a violent carjacking at the Metro parking lot at 1050 Kennedy Circle in Milton.

The same pickup truck hit a parked Honda CRV. The suspects smashed the driver’s side window of the CRV, opened the door and forcefully threw the female out of the vehicle and onto the ground. Both suspects got into the Honda and fled the parking lot.

The female was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“This is a shocking and violent crime that put the lives of many Milton residents at risk,” 1 District Supt. Dave Stewart said in a press release.
