Police search for 84-year-old man after empty sail boat found in Burlington

Search efforts are underway in Lake Ontario for an 84-year-old man after an empty sailboat was found in Burlington.
Toronto police say Peter Ashby was last seen leaving the Queen City Yacht Club on Toronto Island around noon on Thursday.
Toronto police contacted neighbouring police services to keep an eye out for the missing man and his 27-foot sailboat.
The vessel was located near the Burlington Lift Bridge around 2:30 a.m. Friday but no one was on board.
The Toronto police marine unit, members of the Canadian Coast Guard, and military personnel have been searching the waterways between Toronto and Hamilton
throughout the night.
Police describe Ashby as being five-foot-five, 160 lbs, with a thin build, short white hair, and clean-shaven face. He was last seen wearing beige shorts, a forest green jacket, a white t-shirt with a fish on the back, a white ‘Tilley’ hat, and a watch with a black strap.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have information Ashby’s whereabouts to contact police at 416-808-5200.
