Police say man died after being struck by truck, not from medical condition

Hamilton police now have more information about the cause of a Sudbury man’s death after an incident involving a flat-bed truck in Stoney Creek.
A post-mortem revealed the cause of death was from injuries sustained in the collision and not from a medical condition as previously thought.
The 48-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk and the tow-truck was exiting a gas station at the corner of Centennial Parkway and Queenston Road on Monday night.
The tow truck driver, a 21-year-old Hamilton man, was then alerted by other witnesses that a man was on the ground.
Hamilton police initially had conflicting reports on whether the man was struck by the truck or had a pre-existing medical condition that led to his death.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate.
