Police release new picture of the man Yosif Al-Hasnawi tried to help before being shot

It’s been almost three weeks since Yosif Al-Hasnawi was murdered and Hamilton police are now releasing a new photo of the elderly man, a complete stranger, Yosif was trying to protect when he was shot.
The photo of the man was taken from security cameras inside Cadillac Jax Bar. The bar is a two minute walk from where Yosif was shot and killed at Main street east and Sanford.
The image from the bar was captured at 8:51 pm on the night of the murder. We know from police that the 911 call was made at 8:57 pm. Within just 6 minutes police allege the man was verbally attacked by Dale King and James Matheson.
Police aren’t only searching for this elderly man, they still haven’t located the murder weapon, a small caliber handgun. While Detective Sergeant Steve Berizuk’s focus remains on the homicide, he says the police force hasn’t ruled out criminally charging the paramedics who responded that night.
“The door has not been closed on that. That is something we continue to be open minded about.”
In the meantime the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care says they are continuing their interviews with the paramedics on scene that night .
The alleged gunman charged with second degree murder, Dale King, was back in court today to set another date. He appeared by video and will return to court January 3rd.
