Police believe they have recovered the knife that was used in the stabbing death of a man at a Brantford home over the weekend.

32-year-old Tara Koiter was arrested at a home on Sympatica Crescent shortly after 3 in the morning on Saturday and charged with second-degree murder in the death of 44-year-old John Liggins.

When police arrived Liggins was still alive, but he died in hospital not long after.

The two were reportedly common-law partners of six years.

Some of the evidence collected at the scene will need to be sent away to the Centre of Forensic Science in Toronto for analysis.
