Police officer seriously injured after crash with tractor-trailer on Hwy. 403 near Oakville

A Toronto police officer is in hospital with serious injuries Thursday after their motorcycle collided with a tractor-trailer on Highway 403 near Oakville.
It happened around 3:15 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Highway 403 near Dundas Street West.
Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says paramedics rushed the officer to a trauma centre following the crash. His serious injuries were later deemed non-life-threatening.
Westbound Highway 403 was closed at Dundas Street West as police investigated, but reopened nearly six hours later.
There is no word yet on the cause of the collision.
