Police officer assaulted by woman

On April 9, 2016, around 10:00pm, Hamilton Police were called to assist Hamilton Paramedics in the area of Sanford Avenue North and Huron Street.

An intoxicated woman had become aggressive with paramedics while they were trying to provide care.

The woman’s level of alcohol was concerning to paramedics so police went to the hospital with paramedics and the woman.

At the hospital, the woman’s behaviour escalated and became abusive. One of the police officers attempted to calm the situation and then the woman spit in the officer’s face and mouth.

A 33 year old woman from Hamilton was arrested and charged with the assault of a police officer.
