Warning: The video in this story is disturbing.
Toronto police are looking for the person who snuck up on a 70 year old and fired multiple shots, killing him and police have released video.
In the video you see someone walking along a path and then suddenly decide to change direction toward a van. Two people are in that van, the 70 year old man and his friend. The person then points a gun at the passenger side and fires several shots at point blank range. A toronto police homicide detective says “the only way to describe this act is pathetic and cowardly.” It happened around 11:30 Wednesday night near Victoria Park, just north of Finch Avenue.
The victim, Alva Dixon of Scarborough, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was in the passenger seat. The driver of the van, who is in his forties, was shot in the arm and is recovering in hospital.
Police believe someone in the van was the intended target but did not say who. They did say Dixon is known to police.
So far there’s no description of the suspect other than what you see in the video.
Police say they are hoping the despicable nature of the crime causes someone in the community to step forward. They’re asking anyone with any information to give them a call or call anonymously through Crimestoppers.
