Police looking for couple after baby found in safe

Police are looking for an American couple after staff at a Niagara Falls hotel say they found a baby locked in a safe.

Police say a family from Brooklyn was staying at the Howard Johnson Hotel on Victoria Avenue when staff was alerted to a baby locked in a safe. A maintenance worker freed the crying infant.

The parents left with the baby before police arrived.

Police have notified hospitals and border officials. They’re looking for a 2015 grey Ford passenger van with a New Jersey license plate B31-EUB.
