Police investigate stabbing in St. Catharines, shooting in Fort Erie

Niagara Regional Police are investigating two violent incidents that happened early Tuesday morning.

The first happened in St. Catharines around 5 a.m.

Officers were called to the area of Facer St. and Garner St. for reports of a stabbing.

A man in his 20s was taken to hospital in Hamilton, where police say he is in stable condition.

Neighbours tell CHCH a man was trying to break into cars in the area overnight.

The victim reportedly went outside and confronted the man and was stabbed several times.

Meanwhile, officers in Fort Erie were called to the area of Dominion Rd. and Kraft Rd. around 5:40 a.m. for a shooting.

Police say a man was taken to an out of region hospital. He is also in stable condition.
