Police investigate shots fired in central Hamilton

Police are investigating reports of an early morning shooting in central Hamilton.
Shortly after 6 a.m. Monday, police responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Queen St. North between York Blvd. and King St. West.
Officers arrived on scene and secured the area but did not locate anyone.
“Through continued investigation, police confirmed a shooting incident had occurred,” said police in a news release.
Police say investigators checked local hospitals and no injuries were reported.
The investigation has been taken over by the Criminal Investigation Branch.
Residents are being asked to stay away from the away as there is a police presence.

Detectives are asking area residents and businesses to check their security cameras for any suspicious activity and to contact police at 905-546-3816.
