Police investigate sexual assault of teen at Spencer Smith Park

Halton police are searching for a man after a teen girl was sexually assaulted at Spencer Smith Park.
Police say a 17-year-old girl was sitting on a bench along the Waterfront Trail around 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 20.
A man in his 50s or 60s was seen taking photos of the girl. Police say he then sat beside the teen and touched her breast before fleeing the area on foot.
The suspect is described by police as Asian, roughly five-foot-nine, with a thin build, and noticeable wrinkles. He spoke with a thick accent and was wearing a white t-shirt with red sleeves, and a grey baseball hat with a white design on the front. The man was carrying a cell phone with a bright red case.
Investigators are hoping to speak with two young males who may have witnessed the incident on the bench. Police say one of the boys was on a bike and the other was riding a skateboard.
Anyone with information that could help police with the investigation is asked to contact detectives at 905-825-4777, ext. 8971.
