Police investigate sexual assault of senior in Hamilton home

A senior on Hamilton’s west Mountain says she was sexually assaulted by an unknown man in her home.

The 74-year-old woman says she was sleeping on her family room couch when she was awoken by the man, and assaulted for more than an hour.

She says it happened around 3 a .m. on the Civic Holiday, Aug. 7. She says the front door was unlocked.

Hamilton police tell CHCH News they are investigating.

“Based on the investigation, Hamilton police have no information at this time to suggest there is a sexual predator targeting seniors,” said police.

“We have canvassed the area for video and have interviewed the victim. This remains an active investigation.”
