With help from the public, Hamilton police have identified the man who is accused of assaulting a couple on the Waterfront Trail last month.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for 53-year-old Roderick Campbell of no fixed address.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m. on July 7, a man and woman in their early 50’s were riding along the trail near Wild Waterworks at Confederation Beach Park when they were allegedly cut off by another man who began yelling at them. Police say the couple stopped and the other rider deliberately rode into the man’s leg.

“He then grabbed the male’s shirt and hat, pulling on him,” said Hamilton police in a news release. “In an effort to create separation between the victim and the suspect, the female in the couple attempted to pull the suspect off her partner but she was pushed away by the suspect who spat in their direction and rode off as police were called.”

Roderick is charged with assault with a weapon, assault and fail to comply probation.

Police are concerned there may be additional victims who have yet to come forward.
