SIU investigating after police cruiser hits woman

Ontario’s Police Watchdog is investigating after a 74-year-old woman was struck by a police cruiser in Hamilton yesterday afternoon.

The SIU says the woman was crossing Dundurn Street at the King Street intersection around 3:30 when she was hit by the cruiser. She was taken to hospital with a leg injury.

Three investigators, one forensic investigator and a collision reconstructionist are looking into the incident.

The SIU investigates all police interactions that involve death, injury or allegations of sexual assault.
