Police charge man accused of sexually assaulting youth in Burlington

Halton police have charged a 55-year-old man after he allegedly sexually assaulted a youth after connecting with them online.

Officers say a person under the age of 18 connected with the man online on Saturday.

When they met in person in the area of Headon Rd. and Palmer Dr. in Burlington, police say the man allegedly sexually assaulted the youth in a nearby parking lot.

Peter Eerhard of Puslinch was arrested shortly after the incident. He has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and breach of probation.

Eerhard has been held in police custody pending a bail hearing.

Investigators believe there may be other victims and are asking anyone who has information to contact the child abuse and sexual assault unit at 905-825-4747 ext. 8970.
