Former Hamilton teacher charged with sexual exploitation

Police have laid another sex related charge against a man who worked as a teacher in Hamilton.

Geoffrey Burnet, 48, was arrested on November 23 and is facing a sexual exploitation charge after a young woman came forward and reported to police she was sexual exploited by Burnet.

He was released on November 28 on a recognizance of bail.

Burnet is already facing numerous charges including sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, make child pornography and distribute child pornography.

Burnet was a supply teacher at a number of schools in Hamilton between 2005 and 2011 including St. Jean de Brebeuf, St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School, Cathedral High School, St. Mary Catholic Secondary School, Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary School and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Elementary School.

Burnet was employed by the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board, Toronto District School Board, Columbia International College as well as the Upper Grand District School Board.

Police are concerned there could be more victims and are asking anyone with information on any sexual assault incidents involving Burnet to contact Detective Michelle Wiley at (905) 546-3856.
