Police arrest teen in Waterdown rainbow crosswalk vandalism investigation

Hamilton police have arrested a teenager following an investigation into vandalism to a newly painted rainbow crosswalk in Waterdown earlier this month.
Officers said a youth male spray painted the Pride crosswalk in the area of Keewaydin St. and Parkside Dr. shortly before midnight on May 13.
The crosswalk was recently painted to reflect the rainbow and transgender flags, as well as black and brown stripes to represent marginalized members of Two-Spirit and LGBTQIA+ communities.
Police said in a release Wednesday that a 17-year-old Hamilton boy was arrested for mischief under $5,000.
