On Saturday, Pierre Poilievre was named the new leader of the Conservative Party of Canada.

Jean Charest placed second with 16.07 per cent of the vote, while Leslyn Lewis came in third with 9.69 per cent. Roman Baber earned a fourth place finish with 5.03 per cent of the vote. Scott Aitchison came in last place with 1.06 per cent. Poilievre won many of the 338 ridings, including many in Quebec.

Poilievre now has to decide who will fill the critic roles as the House of Commons resumes sitting on Sept. 20, to accommodate for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

He also needs to choose where to place the MP’s who were former leadership rivals.

The Conservatives are expected to meet today to discuss their priorities for the fall session.
