Members of the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit (HNHU) are reassuring residents that there is not currently an outbreak of monkeypox in the county.

The health unit has received several reports of fake phone calls being made to community members claiming a monkeypox outbreak in the county.

The HNHU says this is false information. The last reported case of monkeypox in Haldimand County and Norfolk County was on Aug. 3.

The health unit also says that HNHU staff will always leave a message with a return phone number.

The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit reports three confirmed cases of monkeypox in the region as of Oct. 4.
