Personal Security Cameras

Home security camera technology has grown in leaps and bounds in the last few years. Not only can you buy a camera for about a hundred dollars, you can watch the footage on your cell phone.

Darren Jack had 8 security cameras installed at his Hamilton mountain home 8 months ago and they’ve already come in handy.

“Ironically my neighbours two days later had their truck tampered with and things went missing, we saw the footage rewound it back and got a good visual of the person involved.”

Because of this footage Jack says a young man was arrested.

“With a camera surveillance you’re going to have the benefit of capturing an image of a burglar which can be admissible in a court of law, and a record of the burglary.” Lee Melarangeli, Globaltek.

Globaltek security installed Jack’s system for about $4000 but there are much cheaper options. But before you go camera happy there are a few rules to follow.

“You’re not peering into anyone’s house, it’s catching the front of your home and not seeing neighbours windows or back yards.” Claus Wagner, Hamilton police.

And you have to let people know that you have security cameras by displaying a sticker.
