Three arrested as Officer Among Two Shot in Brampton

Three people are in custody and Peel police are searching for another after one of their officers and another man were shot in Brampton.

Peel Police Constable Thomas Ruttan said the officer was on a premise check call on Stokes Road at around 10:20 Friday night when he was fired upon while exiting his cruiser.

The officer was hit once by a bullet but was able to drive away from the scene and was in hospital in serious but stable condition.

The officer’s wound has been described as non-life threatening.

The male civilian who was shot at the scene prior to the officer’s arrival had been rushed to a trauma centre in critical condition.

Neither the officer or the civilian shot have been identified.

Police are searching for the other male suspect in the areas of Stokes Rd., Chinguacousy Rd. and Queen St.
