Peel police Chief Jennifer Evans named in $21M lawsuit alleging SIU interference

Peel police Chief Jennifer Evans is among others who have been named in a lawsuit by a Mississauga woman who was struck by a stray bullet during a fatal police shooting in March 2015.

Suzan Zreik alleges Evans failed to ensure officers were properly trained and that she knowingly withheld the extent of Zreik’s injuries from the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).  She also alleges the chief promised her a career in policing.

The claims in Zreik’s statement of claim haven’t been proven in court.

Peel police say they are aware of the suit, but they can’t comment as the case is before the courts.
