Hamilton Police continue say the pedestrian struck by a truck on Monday remains in critical condition.

A dump truck pulling a trailer was travelling on Stone Church Rd. E, approaching Ardleigh St., around 9:30 a.m.

The pedestrian, a 34-year-old Hamilton man, “stepped into the lane in front of the truck’s path,” said a Hamilton Police news release.

Police say the driver tried to stop the vehicle but wasn’t able to stop in time.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver remained at the scene. Police have ruled out driver impairment, driver error and speed as contributing factors.

The pedestrian remains in hospital in stable but critical condition.

Police have interviewed witnesses at the scene but are asking anyone who may have information about this to contact them at 905-546-8966.
