Pedestrian struck and killed in downtown Hamilton

Hamilton police say a 49-year-old woman has succumbed to her injuries following a collision on Main Street near Locke Street on Thursday.
The accident happened just after 2 p.m.
Police say the 49-year-old was operating a white DARTS bus and was preparing to pick up a passenger.
At this time, a 75-year-old was driving a 2012 Honda Civic eastbound on Main Street approaching Locke Street. The Honda left the roadway, striking a building and the 49-year-old as she was exiting her vehicle.
The 49-year-old was transported to hospital, but succumbed to her injuries.
The 75-year-old driver of the 2012 Honda Civic did not suffer any injury.
Police say the 75-year-old was arrested at the scene and has since been released pending further investigation. Impairment is not a factor in the the collision.
This is the city’s 11th traffic fatality of 2022 and tenth involving a pedestrian.
