Neighbours along Niagara St. in St. Catharines were trying to cope on Sunday afternoon after seeing a woman die on a front lawn, after she was hit by what police say was a drunk driver.

Shortly past 8:30 on Saturday night, neighbours were shaken from their homes.

Police say a driver lost control on a Niagara St. curve and crossed several lawns before ending up on a driveway.

Staff Sergeant, Dave Hunter, said two people were travelling in a white construction style pickup truck and the driver was not injured.

The passenger suffered minor injuries, and was taken to hospital and released.

The woman was 62-years-old, but police haven’t released her name.

33-year-old Niagara Falls man John Pullia faces charges that include impaired and dangerous driving causing death.
