Pedestrian killed on Barton St

Video Updated Hamilton Police are asking for witnesses to come forward, after a woman was struck and killed by a dump truck on Barton Street East.

Police say a 37 year old woman was walking beside her bicycle when she was hit at the crosswalk near the northbound exit ramp from the Red Hill Valley Parkway around six this morning. A dump truck was heading westbound on Barton and went through the intersection on a green light, hitting the woman as she tried to cross.

This is Hamilton’s 12th traffic death for 2012.

The 65 year old truck driver is not expected to face charges.
