Pedestrian hit and killed

A man is dead after he was hit by a truck while walking on Highway 6 & Upper James in Mount Hope this evening. Police say the man was walking by himself against the traffic when he was run over. It happened just before 5 o’clock during the evening rush hour on a busy section of road with no sidewalks.

There were at least 8 OPP cruisers at the accident scene and several officers talking to witnesses, examining the truck and trying to piece together what happened.

A section of Highway 6 was closed for several hours while accident reconstruction investigated. So far no charges have been laid.
