Pedestrian dies after hit by oncoming car

A man is dead after being hit by an oncoming car after slipping while crossing the road.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Rymal Road East and Upper Centennial Parkway in Hamilton.

Staff sergeant Jack Langhorn told CHCH the 66-year-old victim was not using a crosswalk.

The man died sometime after 11 p.m. Friday night. He is from the east end of Hamilton, but his name has not been released as police are still working on notifying next of kin.

The 82-year-old driver was in a 2011 four-door Mazda and cooperated fully with police. No charges have been laid. Police are still completing their investigation.
