Pedestrian dead after being struck near Mt. Hope

A 54-year-old woman is dead after she was struck by a truck on Highway 6 south of Mount Hope.

The woman, whose identity has not yet been released, was hit just after 4:00 this morning near Chippewa Creek Road. The highway was closed for several hours as the OPP collision reconstruction team pieced together what happened. The driver of the truck is not expected to be charged.

Police haven’t released many details of the crash but say the woman’s family has been notified.
