Paying for Canadian music
Brides and grooms are going to have to pay for their first dance.
The Copyright Board of Canada has certified new tariffs for using Canadian recorded music at live events like receptions, fairs and karaoke bars.
The fees start at just over $9 a day for events involving fewer than a hundred people.
It goes up to $39 dollars for crowds of more than 500 people.
And if there’s dancing, the fees double.
