The father of convicted killer Paul Bernardo says Karla Homolka should still be behind bars.

Ken Bernardo told the Toronto Sun that the former wife of his son “got away with it” by testifying against her husband at his murder trial in the death of Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy.

Homolka’s plea deal, dubbed “the deal with the devil,” saw her sentenced to 12 years in prison, while Bernardo was declared a dangerous offender and sentenced to life behind bars. Bernardo was moved out of the soon-to-be-closed Kingston Penitentiary last week and transferred to Milhaven Prison to serve out his sentence. Homolka, who was released in 2005, has changed her name, remarried, had a child, and now lives on the Caribbean island of Guadelupe.
