Convicted serial killer Paul Bernardo has been charged with possessing a weapon in jail. This comes just months before the killer was set to apply for day parole.

Bernardo is serving a life sentence in the murders of 15-year-old Kristen French and 14-year-old Leslie Mahaffy in 1995.

Bernardo allegedly had a weapon on him at Millhaven Prison on February 9th, a shank made up of a pen with a screw.

He appeared in court via video Friday morning. The case was put over until next month.
