Parts of Hamilton, surrounding areas under flood watch due to overnight rain and rising temperatures

Parts of Niagara Region and Haldimand County are under flood watch today as an overnight rain storm and warmer temperatures are causing water to pool on roads, walkways, and in resident’s backyards.
The region saw 25-30 mm of rain on Jan. 25 and the storm coupled with warmer temperatures caused the snow on the ground to melt.
The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority says water levels are still rising across the watershed, and are expected to continue all weekend as more snow melts, especially in creeks and rivers.

Water levels are below the critical threshold in larger bodies of water, so it is not likely to cause massive flooding.
Although, water has blocked roads and pathways in Beamsville and across Hamilton.
