Parade and tree bylaw
Christmas celebrations will have to wait this year in Hamilton, at least until November 12th.
The Hamilton Veterans Committee has endorsed a proposal to create a bylaw banning Santa Claus parades and Christmas trees at City Hall before Remembrance Day.
Hamilton Councilor Sam Merulla made the initial proposal.
He says he expects it to pass unanimously when council votes on January 23rd.
If passed, Hamilton would be the first city in Canada to establish such a bylaw.
